gis-l: New datasets in ArcSDE BETA

GIS Users,

The following datasets have been newly inserted in ArcSDE BETA (test
instance).

Dep.fl_senate_districts_2005
Dep.fl_house_districts_2005
Dep.us_congressional_districts_1

These are all updated versions of the datasets currently in ArcSDE/DataMiner.
These updates were obtained from the EDR districts website at:
http://edr.state.fl.us/redistricting/districts.htm

Certain fields were deleted from the older versions of these layers. All
attributes containing information pertaining to 'addresses', 'telephone
numbers', 'zipcodes' etc were deleted as this information changes quite often
and we do not have the resources at hand to keep these layers updated and
corrected constantly. This information is readily available at the
Legislature website at:  http://www.leg.state.fl.us/Welcome/index.cfm and
therefore the same information henceforth, will not be maintained in these
layers. 

These updates depict the correct polygon boundaries of the various districts
and their areas and the names and party affiliation of the current
representative/state senator representing those districts.

Again, this data in the test instance is for viewing purposes only and will
be uploaded in the ArcSDE PROD instance in two weeks. This shorter time
period (than the normal month's notice) is necessary to fulfill an urgent
user request. Users are given this time to view these data in the test
instance so that they can familiarise themselves with the updated
attributes/fields which are present in these new versions.
