gis-l: REMINDER - For best service, use imagery from DataMiner

GIS Users,

The problem John Sykes speaks of (see below) appears to be an isolated and a
non-repeatable occurrence. We closely monitor our environment and test
extensions to ensure our data products and services are as reliable as
possible. Please report data service availability issues to our GIS helpdesk
page on depnet.

Chris:

Haven't been able to reproduce the problem with the DOQQs. You are right,
they do come up faster from DataMiner. I'll let you know if I encounter the
problem I was having if it occurs in the future.

John,

What do you mean specifically? We have not heard any issues of this nature.

Ditto here. I've been having some problems with DataMiner and 9.1. It
looses track of where the information is located.

How does the speed of imagery through DataMiner compare with pulling it
through the SDERaster server?

The last time I used DataMiner for imagery in 9.1 it locked up, so I'm still
pulling it from a local library drive manually. Life in the boondocks.

ArcGIS users, please remember the best way to use aerial photos is through
DataMiner. Open DataMiner, click Imagery, and add available imagery layers to
your map. These act like regular layers in your map, and should delivery
imagery quicker than using ImageTools.

The ImageTools extension for ArcGIS is being kept around for mobile GIS users
only! It helps to prepare imagery for export with mobile applicatons like
ArcPad, but is much slower than using the imagery layers available through
DataMiner.

If you have any questions, please let me know.
