Good Morning,
Here is some information that you might find interesting or helpful:
Question: I have GIS tools that have been written in VBA, and have heard that ESRI is dropping support for VBA. How much longer will my tools work?
Answer: ArcGIS Desktop 10 is the last version that will “fully” support VBA code. According to the current plan, OTIS/GIS will support desktop version 10 for at least two more years. However, it may prove prudent for your program to begin planning to rewrite this functionality in another language. If you’re interested, please see the following article for more information.

Question: I have ArcGIS Desktop 10 and need to write metadata for layers that will be stored on SDE which is currently at version 9.3 which causes a conflict. What do I do?
Answer: Download, install and use the Federal Geodetic Data Committee (FGDC) Metadata Editor add-in. This is currently bundled with departmental custom add-in installations. See steps 8 and 9 of this document. http://depnet/gis/software/arcgis10/arcgisdesktop.htm. Metadata created using the FGDC editor is compliant with our current 9.3 version of SDE.
Question: When will new aerial imagery become available through Data Miner?
Answer: High Resolution Aerial Imagery acquisition is currently being coordinated by the Department of Revenue. Florida Statutes require that for each county, aerial imagery must be flown at least once every three years. Here is a link<http://dor.myflorida.com/dor/property/gis/pdf/flightplan12-13.pdf>
that depicts the current acquisition cycle. Imagery is “flown” typically during the winter months of October through December. Post processing and QA/QC activities take approximately 6 months. Once approved, OTIS/GIS acquires and formats the data so that it may be distributed through enterprise resources. Aerial imagery that was flown in the winter of 2011-2012 (several new counties later this week or early next) is now becoming available through Data miner’s Aerial_Imagery_2012 layer.
