For some reason I don't have the rest of this discussion. But if this
point wasn't made before, it should be made. Any one can nominate
candidates for the Safe Drinking Water Act contaminant review! As of
two years ago, when I saw a presentation by someone from this program,
no nominations had been made for pharmaceuticals, and the speaker was
encouraging that people consider doing it.
The process is described at:
http://www.epa.gov/safewater/ccl/ccl3.html#one . This is what EPA says
there:
Who can nominate contaminants for the CCL?
EPA is seeking nominations from any person who is interested, including
members of the general public, stakeholders, agencies, and industry. You
can nominate chemicals, microbes, or other materials for consideration
on the CCL by sending information electronically, or in hard copy to
EPA. Although it is optional, all nominations will request you provide
us with information (including your name, title, affiliation, phone
number, mailing address, and email address). As EPA considers
contaminants for the CCL, the Agency will evaluate the information for
nominated contaminants.

RE the quote below, what is the status of this "list?" Did
Pharmaceuticals make it in if it was promulgated?
