Hi Rita,

Our policies and procedures are specifically for hospitals which must
identify, segregate, and manage RCRA hazardous waste as a business.
While we don't directly work with household haardous waste, I've put
together a resource sheet that might be useful to you. Anyone on this
list serve who wants to add to this list, please feel free to do so and
email it back to me. This is simply a starting point. I hope this is
helpful.

Best regards,

We are looking for a place to start. Harvey County is recycling house
hold wastes. We do have a concern about medical and Pharmwastes that
are still found in the trash and the risk to employees sorting this
trash. We will soon be having some discussion for medical and
Pharmwastes. Where can we find some direction for policy to assist our
efforts? I was wondering if the policies in this discussion could give
us some ideas for change. Their
must be some protocol somewhere for us to follow. Currently we have a
contract with a company that does this. As everything, this price is
increasing significantly. It is almost prohibitive to offer, as we have
been, to discard these household medical wastes, pharmacological wastes
at no cost, absorbing the cost with some assistance from the sale of
proper needle containers for collection.

Hi Marta,

We offer five sets of Policies and Procedures for the five
implementation models developed in the H2E Blueprint on Pharm Waste.
Hospitals can mix and match the policies depending on which of the
models they choose to implement. There are approximately 20 to 22
policies and procedures for each model. Anyone interested can contact me
at the email below. Thanks much!

I just received a request for an updated policy on Disposal of Unwanted
Medication that may be used by Health Facilities. Does anyone have a
policy they could share?

Thanks.
