Hi all,

Here is a link to our final report on the two-year pilot to collect
unwanted medicines from residents at 37 pharmacies and 2 boarding homes.
The pilot phase, which ran for two years, was created by a collaboration
of governments, non-profits and businesses. The pilot is over now but
the participating pharmacies have decided to continue collecting
unwanted medicines; however, it is uncertain how long they will be able
to pay for these programs. This is an interim program until a
sustainable program funded and run by the pharmaceutical manufacturers
operates throughout Washington State. Sorry for posting this so late
but we finished it just as we started the legislative session and I'm
now just catching up!

Also, while you're on the medicinereturn.com website, you may want to
check out the return locations page. Washington State now has a total
of 119 locations to return medicines including 48 law enforcement
offices where folks can return their controlled substances and other
medicines. All of these locations operate on an on-going basis. Many
law enforcement offices have expressed an interest in starting medicine
return because of the public safety need to collect controlled
substances.
