[Pharmwaste] FW: Cytotoxic Chemotherapy drugs/groundwater connection

Actually- instead of outlawing shallow wells We should outlaw flush toilets,
septic systems and sewage treatment plants. None of these "Flush" devices
will ever be sustainably or reliably able to deal with this dilemma. But,
most, if not all of these compounds can be mineralized to benign, bio-genic
Carbon dioxide and water vapor by our "Constructed Woodlands", on-site
treatment systems. We have been designing/ installing these systems since
the '70s. My own residence and several of my rental properties have been
using on-site, "Constructed Woodland", Zero Sewage discharge systems since
the '80s.
These design/ constructed turbo-charged "Woodlands" utilize trillions
hyper-activated, naturally occurring organisms. Mycelia, algae, bacteria,
"actinomycetes" and all of their free, symbiotic energy and aggressive
enzymes can render most of the exotic, EDC, PPCP man-made compounds as
benign and with zero discharge to the environment. At the very least, all
compounds and sub-compounds will be totally sequestered from the environment
for more than 20 years.
All of this is accomplished with near zero assistance from man and the
system life expectancy is self sustaining, self enhancing and infinite.
All we do is create the proper, structural environment and allow this
amazing process to happen.

For much more info.

The next question is the use of Iodine 131. I did some research a couple of
years ago and found that the web based outreach advice from veterinarians
was to contain all cat box litter for three months when using I 131 for
cats. Yet I did not see any outreach on the web for humans that are treated
with I 131. It may be short lived but in my community, indeed many
communities, there are houses with septic systems that are within a short
travel time to drinking water wells.

Perhaps we should outlaw shallow alluvial aquifers from being drinking water
sources?

Hi, Everyone

Is anyone familiar with the emerging issue of cytotoxic chemotheraphy drugs
contamination, if any other states besides Rhode Island and Massachusetts
are focusing on related policy, or the broadness of the issue which appears
to be a specific PPCP concern? I'm also interested in finding information
regarding ground water contamination from cytotoxic chemotherapy drugs.

See email below on topic from a colleague who works for EPA Region 1 on
source water protection.

Thanks,
Marjorie

Roy and Marjorie,

I am working with my colleague Ernie Panciera at Rhode Island DEM on this
emerging issue (see memo below on interpretation of Rhode Island groundwater
regs). Have you heard any discussion about this issue? It seems more
specific than the broader PPCP issue.

RIDEM asked me to check with GWPC to get the national perspective. I spoke
to Mike Paque yesterday and he's going to talk to Ben G. about it when he
gets back in the office.

For now, the focus on policy seems limited to Rhode Island and
Massachusetts. See bill proposed in the MA legislature this session and
PowerPoint presentation given to Sen. Whitehouse (Rhode Island).

The gentleman who sent me this email (Jim Mullowney) is someone who I met at
the Northeast private well conference in November in CT. Jim just met with
the Chairman of the EPA Science Advisory Board, Tom Zeller, last week to
discuss this.

Any insight would be appreciated!
Kira

Great meeting you the other day in Southbury CT. I was the guy with the 'Pee
in a cup' program to save the world. I would love to meet with you and your
staff to discuss the topic of cytotoxic Chemotherapy drugs excreted from
patients, I know that sounds so inviting. Please read the attachment from
the top environmental attorney in RI. This same legal opinion would apply
with the EPA regs.

Let me know when a good time to meet is.
