[Pharmwaste] Anyone using Cactus Sink?

Hi Donna and all,

If there are hazardous waste controlled substances going into the SmartSink,
then there are WI DNR/EPA regulatory issues. The resulting waste
cartridges, which I believe Cactus takes as a reverse distributor, would
likely be considered hazardous waste and Cactus would need both hazardous
materials endorsements on their trucks, but the waste would have to go to an
EPA permitted facility.

Also, if HW, there may be "treatment in container" rules involved. Best to
speak with your WI DNR rep.

Hope this helps.

Very truly yours,

Subject: [Pharmwaste] Anyone using Cactus Sink?

Just found out this morning our hospital is trialing Cactus Sink for
controlled substance med disposal on two inpatient units and the emergency
department - anyone else using it? Any concerns/comments? Thanks.Donna
