Dear all,

Indeed we observe similar issues here in Europe with the genotoxicity testing in water.

Just come back from the 8th BioDetectors conference (www.bds.nl), where genotoxicuty testing in water was intensively discussed.

So far, several not sensitive enough tests (UMU, Comet, Ames) are used to tests for such genotoxicity in water,

with the new developed p53 CALUX we hope to fill this diagnostic cancer gap…

See attached our studies.

For such cancer also tests for oxidative stress, the hormones and POPs are certainly have an impact in the cancer development…see attachment..

Greetings

Peter

Attached is a presentation I gave at the June 2014 CleanMed conference in Cleveland. The Presentation was opened up by Jason Glowczewski, Director of Pharmacy, Community Hospitals at University of Cleveland. I am sure he would be happy to share his presentation also.
Jason opened up the presentation by describing how dangerous Chemotherapy drugs are and extreme level of protection is need to protect the Pharmacist and nurses and how expensive the drugs are to purchase and dispose of including anything that came in contact with the chemicals.
My presentation was about the waste from the patient that contain upwards of 90% of the chemicals in the urine, feces, saliva and sweat and how to capture the waste and dispose of it properly.
Feel free to share.

Jim

Note that this originated with Deb Hoffman/Hauser. I’m not sure why it didn’t post. Please if you have problems posting to the list serve, let me know.

Subject: seeking presentations

Good morning everyone,

I’m getting ready to do a presentation for a group here in Ohio regarding pharmaceutical disposal. The presentation will be geared towards speaking to the average layman, and I have one I’ve used in the past that should be sufficient. But as we have this wonderful listserv resource, I thought I’d reach out to all of you to see if anyone has a good pharmaceutical disposal powerpoint they’d be willing to share with me. I’m specifically looking for something to touch on the DEA rule. There’s a Product Stewardship Institute webinar scheduled for October 30th and I suspect that will be very valuable. Unfortunately, my presentation is next week, so I need to gather what I can from all of you soon.

Thank you and I hope you’re enjoying October (here in Ohio, it’s lovely).

BTW, I got married in June, so those of you that know me as Deborah Hoffman should know I’m now Deborah Hauser. My agency hasn’t gotten around to updating my email yet, so I’m still Hoffman on my email.

Deb
