Yellow Jug Old Drugs Program Demonstrates Commitment to Clean Water and
Safe Communities by Making Drug Disposal Inexpensive, Easy and
Efficient.

*New Ordering/Shipping Process *New On-Demand
Program

The Yellow Jug Old Drugs Program (YJOD) operated by Great Lakes Clean
Water/US Clean Water Org GLCW/USCW has welcomed the increased need for
services to properly collect and dispose of Rx-Waste. Every year since
the Program started in 2008, the average weight collected by pharmacies
increases.
In 2015 the average was 198.15 lbs. of drug waste (Rx-waste only no
packaging). The number of participating pharmacies also continues to
increase.

To respond to the increased need and to prepare for what YJOD believes
will soon be an even greater increase, the YJOD Program is taking a
major step to increase shipping capacity. This will provide customers
with “Amazon-Like” sophistication in ordering, confirming and tracking
orders for extra jugs and registering new locations. Orders now will be
placed online at http://www.yellowjugolddrugsprogram.com/

This new ordering method will be the most time efficient for pharmacy
staff and GLCW/USCW admin staff and is also the most cost-effective
solution to meet the increased shipping demands. The new site will also
be a portal to encourage donations from individuals. The YJOD Program is
currently funded primarily by program fees from pharmacies. GLCW
believes that support for RX-Waste collection programs should be a
shared responsibility; Pharmacies, Pharmaceutical Companies and
Consumers. GLCWUSCW is working actively towards that goal.

The goal of Great Lakes Clean Water/US Clean Water is to operate the
Yellow Jug Old Drugs Program at the lowest cost, while providing
extraordinary and professional customer service to encourage as many
pharmacies as possible to participate.

“Instituting this new shipping method is another way of demonstrating
our commitment to clean water and safe communities by making drug
disposal inexpensive, easy and efficient.” states Chris Angel, President
GLCW/USCW

Currently Pharmacies in Michigan, Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana, Ohio,
and North Dakota are able to participate in the YJOD Unlimited Weight
program for only $25 per month. Collection for the Unlimited Program is
done in person, on-site at the pharmacy every six months. Additional
states will soon be added to the Unlimited Program.

To meet the need for safe and approved Rx-Waste Collection and Disposal
in areas not yet served by the Unlimited Program, Yellow Jug Old Drugs
is now be offering the On-Demand© option. Locations participating in
the YJOD On-Demand Program will be provided a jug that holds 25lbs of
Rx-Waste(equivalent to a 2-40 gal box of waste if packaging were
collected) Collecting Rx-Waste without packaging is the most efficient,
cost-effective and environmentally sound practice.

The On-Demand © Jug is $135 and available only for Non-Controlled
Substances presently and can be used in pharmacies and other approved
healthcare facilities. For more info
