Hello Ed...
I have spent much time in Africa the past decade dealing with waste
management in health care facilities ..including disposal of
pharmaceuticals....in ..Ethiopia..Kenya..Tanzania..Eswatini..Namibia..South
Africa..Guinea..Sierra Leone..Liberia..Zambia....EPR? EPR is already an
uphill climb in high income countries. Many of these countries do not even
have basic solid waste management infrastructures ...let alone good systems
to handle more complex waste streams which as the author points out go down
a drain or to a dump...Several countries have pharma waste guidance ...but
it is not well implemented. Supply chain management may help in the
healthcare delivery sector ( hospitals) but consumer use will be a
different beast to tackle.
