USF offers noncredit course on Introduction to Geographic Information
Systems (GIS) this Fall. The University of South Florida is offering a
noncredit course, Geographic Information Systems (GIS) -Introduction =
that
provides the necessary skills to understand and work with this popular
analysis tool. The course is geared to planners, engineers, architects,
environmental scientists, epidemiologists and market analysts, among =
others.

Sponsored by USF Educational Outreach and the Department of Geography, =
the
course will provide an overview to understanding the uses of GIS as =
well as
exposure to working with ArcGIS 8.2=AE, the current industry leader for
desktop GIS. While the course will provide introductory knowledge on =
using
GIS, it can also serve as a bridge to entering the USF Department of
Geography's Graduate Certificate Program in Geographic Information =
Systems.

The 40-hour continuing education course will be offered on Saturdays =
from
October 26 through November 23 at the USF Tampa campus from 8:30 a.m. =
to
