shrug-l: Slope question

I have a DEM that is in meters over decimal degrees.  When I perform the =
slope function in the Spatial Analyst I get results of 89.999%.  =
Obviously a 90% slope is impractical, especially talking about Alabama.  =
Therefore, somehow things are flipped and they should be close to 0%.  I =
chose the default z factor.  Is there a z factor I can enter that would =
fix this error, or are there other steps?
