shrug-l: projection problems

You may wan to check first to see if there is a mismatch in horizontal 
datum (such as NAD27 vs NAD83), esp. if the mismatch is in terms of less 
than a km.  Usually if the projection itself is mismatched you will see a 
"blank screen" when zoomed to extents.
