Nonie,
=20
I've been to the ESRI conference a few times. It can be very
overwhelming.
=20
My recommendations:=20

1.	To minimize the walking you'll have to do, get a room near the
conference. Do that as early as possible (like, maybe a month ago!). :o]
2.	I'm not suggesting you would, but don't even try to talk to Jack
Dangermond. He's busier than the pope at these things. You'll find him
much more approachable at other conferences, like GITA or ASPRS.
3.	Get outside whenever you can. The weather's beautiful.
4.	Attend the social gatherings if you can. You'll learn alot at
them too. Check out the Gaslight District at lunch and in the evenings;
lots of GIS folks there.
5.	Fly in on Sunday night, get registered and go back to your hotel
room. That way, you can go over the program and catch the keynote
presentation in the morning. It's a good overview of the whole show.
6.	When you get a copy of the program, go over it and prioritize
the sessions you want to attend. Attend your first choice, sit in the
back and if it turns out to be disappointing, discretely get up and go
to Number 2. Life is too short to sit through presentations that either
are stiflingly boring or don't cover what you need.
7.	Submit a map/poster if you can.=20
8.	I think Song flies directly from Tampa to LAX, where I presume
you could get a rental car or a short hop flight to San Diego. I've
never tried it, but since you're in the Tampa area, you may want to look
into it.
9.	Have fun and learn as much as you can! :o)

=20
Anyone else have any suggestions/corrections?
