COMPUTER PROGRAMMER ANALYST I
DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE AND CONSUMER SERVICES
AGRICULTURE MANAGEMENT INFORMATION CENTER (AGMIC)

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university and one (1)
year of experience in computer systems analysis and/or computer
programming; or
A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with a
major in one of the computer sciences or in management information
systems; or
Two (2) years of experience as described above and either (1) completion
of a 720 classroom hour program of study from a vocational/technical
school or accredited community college in an area of data processing
(excluding data entry), or (2) 60 semester or 90 quarter hours of
college course work from an accredited institution which includes four
(4) courses in computer science or management information systems.
Experience as described above can substitute on a year-for-year basis
for the required college education.
Completion of a one-year program of study from a vocational/technical
school in an area of data processing (excluding data entry) can
substitute for one (1) year of the required experience.
DUTIES:
This position will assist AGMIC's Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
Manager with the administration and support of the Department's
Enterprise GIS using ESRI's ArcGIS, ArcSDE and ArcIMS software for
entry, analysis, distribution and presentation of spatial and attribute
data. The position will primarily assist with the Department's ArcSDE
Enterprise spatial data library, including maintaining the currency of
the data and metadata, acquisition of new data sets, requests, develop
cartographic standards, and assist users with ArcGIS and ArcIMS
projects.
The following knowledge, skills and abilities are needed for the
position, but are not included in the minimum requirements:
* Knowledge of geographic data properties and models.
* Knowledge of cartographic principles.
* Knowledge of ESRI ArcSDE software capabilities.
* Knowledge of ESRI ArcIMS software capabilities.
* Knowledge of ArcXML.
* Knowledge of relational database management systems.
* Skill with Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
* Skill with ESRI ArcGIS software.
* Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
* Ability to produce accurate work products.
* Ability to meet established deadlines.
* Ability to develop and incorporate computer cartographic
standards.
* Ability to develop techniques, protocols, and standards.
* Ability to travel.
* Ability to apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and
procedures.
* Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
