FW: shrug-l: DEM and TIN

Thanks.

I have a related question. I've created a 3D feature (line) that
appears to draw correctly in ArcGlobe. Is there a way to extract the x,
y, and z values to a spread sheet?

I'll need to do this for several line segments.

Jim,
As for question # 1, I have exported to data to DXF and brought it into
AutoCAD and edited the final slope points and also smoothed the rounding
effect (large scale only), but I have never seen anyone use Excel.
Please post a summary if you get this information. It would be very
interesting to learn how it can be done in Excel or DBase formats.

As for question # 2, I believe the answer is no. I have looked for a way
to do analysis between vector and raster and what I usually have to do
is convert either the vector to raster or vice versa so the formats can
converse with each other during the analysis.

All,

I have two questions.

1. Is there a way to export profile information from 3D Analyst to
Excel? I can get a profile drawing in a window, but it's useless. I
would like to export the profile data, so I can have more control over
the input/output. I'm using the NED and NHD.

2. Can you combine raster and vector data to create a new TIN? I have
some good surveyed elevation data that I want to merge with not-so-good
DEM elevation data to create a continuous surface representing the best
data available. Example: The survey data includes road centerlines,
edge of water, and some spot elevations, but nothing in between. I want
to use the DEM to fill in the gaps. Is this even possible or
recommended?

Thanks.
