shrug-l: URGENT ASSISTANCE NEEDED !!!! Cross Section creating using 3D Analyst and ArcView

SHRUGGIES .... HELP !!!!

I am looking to create cross sections of contour layers (vector data).  This is my first time creating these with 3D Analyst and need to know where to begin.

I have been told by ESRI that the cross sections can be created with 3D Analyst, however, we would need ArcInfo.  Other resources have told me that it can be done with ArcView and 3D Analyst.  Whether it can be done in one or the other doesn't concern me.  What concerns me is where to begin.
