Time is running out to register for the 3rd Annual GIS Symposium

The Geomatics Program of Troy University is partnering with the Environmental Institute and the Department of Geology and Geography at Auburn University to host the 3rd Annual GIS Symposium and Workshops. This year's events are scheduled for October 31st and November 1st at the AU Ralph Draughon Library and the Hotel at Auburn University Dixon Conference Center on the campus of Auburn University. The symposium theme, "Managing our Geography," represents the multitude of applications for GIS.

The symposium program is now on the web page at http://www.auei.auburn.edu/gis/pro.pdf. Sessions cover a variety of topics including municipal applications, GIS & Engineering, emergency and disaster planning, precision agriculture and much more.

The keynote presentation will be by Bruce P. Baughman, Director of the Alabama Emergency Management Agency. He is a 32-year veteran in emergency management with an unparalleled background in disaster response operations. Mr. Baughman's address, "Alabama EMA, Situational Awareness and Emergency Operations in GIS" will draw from his vast experience having been involved in response and recovery efforts for more than 100 presidentially-declared disasters and emergencies, including the Oklahoma City bombing.

A few spaces remain in the Geodatabases Workshop on Tuesday, October 31st. See the web page for details.
