shrug-l: GIS and Mac

Nonie - a subject dear to my heart. (I've been using Macs since 1987)

If possible, I would get a new Intel-based model, the Intel Core Duo,
which is capable of running Windows as well as the Mac Operating System.
Then you should be able to transfer files from GIS in Windows to
Illustrator on the Mac side.

See http://www.apple.com/getamac/windows.html and
http://reviews.cnet.com/4520-3513_7-6486371-1.html, and
http://www.macworld.com/news/2006/04/06/parallels/index.php?lsrc=mwtoprs
s

Or at least get VirtualPC for a non-Intel Mac, so you can run Windows on
the Mac in emulation mode. A bit slower, but still usable.

To me, trying to output GIS projects, Mac's superior color handling is a
major advantage. The old acronym "WYSIWYG" means "what you see (on
screen) is what you get (from the printer)".

Also, you can go on the internet with the Mac operating system and avoid
99.9% of the viruses out there, not to mention being safer from hackers.

Contrary to the popular myth, Macs are not just for graphics, as the
scientific and musical community can testify. After 8 hours in the
Windows world at work, I hug my Mac when I get home.

I'll stop ranting now ...

Oh - one more VERY important question that I forgot to ask...
The people in Graphics are insisting that I need a Mac to run the Adobe
CS3.

What do you all use?
Are you on a Mac?
What do you recommend?

Thank you,
