shrug-l: Joining data from MS Office 2007

Thanks for all of the valuable input.
Sounds like several people have come across similar issues as well as other bugs and quirks with the new version of MS Office.
Several people recommended saving the files as a dbf file prior to performing the join.
It is a small added step, but I have tried this and it seems to fix the problem.
