DESCRIPTION
This is highly advanced engineering work performing technical assignments to efficiently analyze and evaluate the geographic information systems (GIS) and Roadway Characteristics Inventory (RCI) programs between the Districts and Central Office, as well as other comparable office work.

 EXAMPLES OF WORK

Provide engineering analysis and evaluation of the geographic information systems basemap data revision program requests from the Districts for proper program maintenance.  Provide technical engineering advice for any development of future Roadway Characteristics Inventory/basemap design.

Design and produce high quality digital and hardcopy maps for program projects and as requested.  Provide technical engineering assistance with mapping in support of the Strategic Intermodal System (SIS).

Performs acquisition and maintenance of raster data acquired by the Office.  Performs geographic information systems data analysis and quality control.  Provide technical engineering advice for global positioning system (GPS) program.

Conduct engineering analysis and evaluation with regard to geographic information systems basemap program maintenance.

Assist with additional geographic information systems basemap data revision program requests related to the Strategic Intermodal System and ensure that these needs are of the highest priority.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

EXAMPLES OF KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of or ability to work with the geographic information systems basemap/Roadway Characteristics Inventory program.  Knowledge of geographic information systems software, concepts, and terminology.  Skills with analyzing and evaluating information from the Districts.  Ability to conduct engineering analysis.   Ability to work with new program technologies.  Ability to perform and evaluate global positioning systems technology.  Ability to analyze and interpret raster data.  Ability to communicate information effectively.  Ability to develop and maintain cordial, effective working relationships with supervisors and co-workers, both in Central Office and with the Districts.
