Seriously, this page has some data, but it is only totals. It comes from
something called the "Statistical Abstract of the United States 2009". You
can search the box in the upper right on "pet" and get some links.

Anybody out there know if there are any data on a "pet census"?  I've found a
reference titled "US Pet Ownership and Demographics Sourcebook" which I would
like to get my hands on, but it's very expensive.
