Bret,
I have not used a model to create a File GDB however I am not surprised
that it takes longer than a personal. I would guess the slowdown is
caused by anti-virus, anti-adware and so on software that scans each
file as it is being created. Since the File GDB is multiple files and
the personal GDB is only one file I would expect it to take longer.
However that amount of difference in time seems excessive even when you
consider scanning. Are you running some sort of file mirroring or disk
imaging software that is making backup copies? Are you creating this on
a network drive?

Subject: shrug-l: File/Personal GBD Productivity
Any Shrug Users have any knowledge on the performance of model-builder
and the difference between Personal and File GBD's?
I have a very simple model that creates a GDB, creates a feature
dataset and 10 feature classes with a number of attribute fields. A
simple and clean model. Running this model to create a File GDB takes
my computor 4:42 minutes to complete, while running it as a Personal it
completes in just 30 seconds. All inputs, processors and parameters are
identidcal, only difference is the type of GDB created.
Anybody experienced similar problems?
Bret.
