For those of you planning to attend the Esri Southeast Regional User Group (SERUG) meeting next week in Jacksonville,  please review this announcement for details on a Homeland Security/Emergency Management Special Interest Group (SIG) meeting being held Wednesday, May 4th from 1:00pm - 3:00pm. Homeland Security / Emergency Management (HLS /EM) Special Interest Group (SIG) Meeting-Wednesday, 4 May 2011 from 1 - 3 pm at Esri SERUG

What: Homeland Security / Emergency Management Special Interest Group Meeting
Where: Hyatt Regency Jacksonville Riverfront  - City Terrace 9 (located on the 3rd floor)
When: Wednesday, May 4, 2011 from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Who: Homeland Security, Homeland Defense, Emergency Preparedness Response and Recovery, Civil Support and Infrastructure Protection mission partners and geospatial analysts and managers supporting those missions are invited to participate.

Registration: Registration will take place on site at the SIG meeting. There is no cost to attend even if you are not attending the Esri Southeast Regional User Group (SERUG) conference. Please note that if you are attending the SERUG luncheon that day, the SIG meeting will start promptly at 1pm.

Speakers will include:

* Homeland Infrastructure Foundation Level Data (HIFLD) Southeast Region Representatives - Federal Programs and Resources
* Florida's Orange County Fire and Rescue - The Importance of a Data Distributed System During Disasters
* U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Geospatial Liaisons Program - Geospatial Response Assets
* Florida's Alachua County Public Safety/E911 - Mobile GIS Trailer - A Regional Response Asset
* Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Office of Infrastructure Protection (IP) - Protective Security Advisor (PSA) Program
* Florida Division of Emergency Management (FDEM) - State Visualization Platforms

Join other regional homeland security; homeland defense; emergency preparedness, response, and recovery; critical infrastructure protection; and law enforcement colleagues to discuss the use of geospatial technologies and data to support these important missions. Hear what others are doing to geospatially enable their operations for situational awareness and better decision making. The session will include an overview of the Homeland Infrastructure Foundation Level-Data (HIFLD) Working Group, HIFLD to the Regions (HTTR), and other federal programs that focus on identifying and facilitating acquisition of authoritative geospatial data, enhancing awareness and sharing of information. Representatives include members from all levels of government presenting on topics ranging from geospatial datasets, infrastructure analysis,    visualization tools and mobile operations across the emergency management community.  Outcomes will include discussion of future regional networking and partnering opportunities for enhanced regional
geospatial coordination.
