      Loran-C used ground stations and radio waves to allow the 
receiver to determine its location.  GPS uses satellite configuration 
signals to make the same determination.  Problems with GPS includes 
jammers, frequency interference from others (such as LightSquared 
proposal), and whatever gets between the satellites and the receiver 
(such as indoors, in a canyon, or the like.  A solution to the 
receiving problem has been proposed in terms of ground stations set 
up for a specific area.  If you  are interested in this approach,
