City of Buford, Georgia launched a new public GIS website last week.
This simple site allows the citizens of Buford to access some basic
information such as zoning and aerial photography via the internet
without having to come to City Hall. This new GIS website was developed
by a team led by Keck & Wood, Inc., a Silver Esri Business Partner
Network Member. The site is powered by Esri's ArcGIS Server and was
built using the ArcGIS Server Flex API.

The development of the public GIS website was part of a larger project
that Keck & Wood has completed for Buford to implement an automated web
based work order and inspection tracking system which will be linked to
their GIS and Utility Billing database. With implementation of this new
integrated system, the City has wireless, real-time data in the field; a
public citizen-access web portal; preventative and corrective
maintenance scheduling; data integration between third-party customer
service and billing software; pre-programmed report options for
compliance with regulations such as GASB-34 and CMOM.....the list
continues.

The development of the public GIS web application was a true team
effort. Keck & Wood was the team leader providing project oversight,
quality control, client contact, application and database design
requirements and GIS support. Other members of the team included eGIS
Associates and Binary Bus. eGIS Associates provided application
development support and assistance. Binary Bus, an Esri Business
Partner, provides hosting for the website and ArcGIS Server.
