shrug-l: New under water ships down under

If you go to Google Maps and zero in on this area, you can tell that the
real ships appear in higher resolution than the 'sunken' ships. Google
Earth Fusion, which is Google's proprietary Globe and Map making
software, automatically lays the higher quality (resolution) rasters on top
of the lower-res stuff. I'm sure (contrary to the national
security interests of the Australian government) Google has captured some
higher quality snapshots of the real ships, clipped them to include just
the ships and not the surrounding water (for space/bandwidth reasons), and
GE Fusion (automatically) placed these higher quality images over the
'sunken' ships. Perhaps the spatial extents of one of the rater sets, or
varying positions of the ships, caused this funny 'sunken' effect.
