shrug-l: Census Population Report

Hi All,

Can anyone recommend a free mapping tool that will query and report USA Census data using a user-defined buffer?  In the past we've used Esri BAO, which provides a wealth of info and nice output, but we've since let our subscription lapse and I'm looking for a somewhat comparable tool.  We're specifically interested in USA household data, which I think is reported by census block.  Please provide recommendations.  Thanks!
