NAHMMA National Conference - 23rd Annual Conference on Household & Small
Business Waste Burlington, VT October 13-17, 2008 (see attached call for
papers)

Training class to be offered at the conference:
HHW and CESQG Collection 24-hour OSHA HAZWOPER (October 12, Sun, noon -
October 15, Wed, noon)

This training was developed by the North American Hazardous Materials
Management Association (NAHMMA). It provides health and safety baseline
training focused on common operations at HHW/CESQG collections facilities.
Much of this material is equally applicable to collection events. This
course combines multi-media lecture, hands-on exercises, and a field visit to
an operating collection facility.

The audience for this training are those with direct, supervisory, and
oversight responsibilities for efficiently and safely handling Household
hazardous Waste (HHW) and Conditionally Exempt Small Quantity Generator
(CESQG) waste. This may include persons such as collection facility staff
and their supervisors, health department staff, building officials, CESQG
inspectors and technical assistance staff, state and local regulators, and
other HHW / CESQG professionals who have responsibilities related to handling
of these wastes.

This training is beneficial to those with HHW / CESQG responsibility by:
Reducing the risk of chemical exposure and other hazards to the public and
staff.
Reducing the risk of accidental discharges to the environment.
Less experienced HHW/ CESQG staff should learn the fundamentals of safe
operations in this training.
Experienced HHW/CESQG staff and oversight personnel should realize new
insights and will get review and refreshed in training that some may have
previously received.
