The Division of Water Resource Management is proud to announce the
availability of the Florida National Hydrography Dataset (Florida NHD). The
data can be found in DataMiner or ArcSDE in the below location:
ArcSDE Name: NHD.Hydrography
DataMiner Name: Florida NHD (under Base Map Data: Water and Program Area
Data: WRM)
This GIS layer represents Florida's water features such as estuaries, rivers,
lakes and springs that comprise the state's surface waters. Based on the USGS
NHD at 1:24,000 this data layer will provide the framework for creating maps
and linking our water related data to our surface water drainage network
through the ReachCodes within these features. It also provides GNIS names for
features and a Geometric Network that allows upstream and downstream
navigation.
The Bureau of Watershed Management will regularly update this layer to
maintain a high standard of consistency, accuracy and completeness.
This data resides in a Feature Dataset format on our FDEP ArcSDE server to
provide a richer data content for our users and improved labeling, symbology
and database functionality. ArcGIS is fully compatible with this data type,
however, ArcView 3.x does not support this data type and cannot consume the
layer.
