[Pharmwaste] Response: Disposal kits

Let's all agree that the problem is that pharmaceuticals are getting
into the waterways via current disposal practices. Rather than argue on
what is the best way to tackle the problem and who is going to pay,
let's move forward and pursue all alternative and let the chips fall as
they may. Everyone is responsible to see that these drugs are disposed
of properly and permanently. In my opinion, to make a noticeable dent in
the problem, all the programs we can think of will need to be
implemented. Lots of education and multiple paths of disposal options
will be needed. We need to keep in mind that the person that will
eventually pay is us. =20

But its already happening with pilots in EPA Region 1, in Vancouver,=20
WA, and a proposed pilot coming into being in the Seattle region.=20
Pilots only, but its a start at getting the pharmacies involved, and=20
ultimately they will pass costs onto the manufacturer and or the=20
consumer -- which is better than the taxpayer.

I'm signing off of this discussion now to be gone for two weeks.

Thanks all.
