I just did it recently with minimum efforts for disseminating information to the VA HD offices and it has been well received. The only trouble so far I have is you have to install ArcReader before they can view data graphically. I put everything including the data in one CD (that also include a copy of ArcReader). Thoughts for improvement

- There is only one template for printing maps – hope to have a few to choose from.

- Plan to have more summary data in both tables and graphics in PDF format as hot-links.

Good luck and please do share your experience.

Hello, All:

I'm looking for an interactive map solution. The end user is not GIS savvy.

I've considered the following:

1. ArcPublisher / ArcReader - seems like a reasonable solution to make published maps interactive, but I don't know the software limitations (i.e. can it handle display transparency, how secure is the packaged data, etc)

2. ArcGIS Server / IMS - I have the resources, but anything internet-based can have performance issues. I also worry about network connects during presentation.

I want to create presentation quality interactive maps that have pizzazz. Please comment on the above and offer any suggestions.

Jim Thomas
