1. The Environmental Specialist II/Environmental Trainer position
involves
working cooperatively with Reserve staff and the community to translate
scientific research, assess education needs, target relevant
environmental
professional audiences, conduct workshops that address priority coastal
management issues, and evaluate results. This position will work closely
within the GTMNERR Education Team to design and implement a successful
GTMNERR Education Program; develop ways to increase regional networking
and
collaboration across sectors involved with coastal management issues;
and
provide the best available science-based information, tools, and
techniques
required by individuals, environmental professionals and groups that are
making important decisions regarding coastal resources.  Travel to and
coordination of meetings and job-training events will require occasional
work
at night and/or on weekends.  This is a full-time 40-hour per week
position
with benefits.  The GTMNERR is a scientific research and environmental
education program focused on improving the understanding and management
of
our coastal natural resources and all estuaries in general.

2. OPS Engineering Technician IV/OPS Geographic Information System (GIS)
Analyst) - Position #37979112
Salary Range:  $15.00 - $20.00 per hour
 
Duties & Responsibilities:
Implements and manages the GTMNERR (Guana Tolomato Matanzas National
Estuarine Research Reserve) Geographic Information System (GIS) to
enhance
the resource management, scientific research and environmental education
programs of GTMNERR which is an ArcGIS based system on a local area
network. 
Acquires and updates data layers, conducts analyses, produces digital
and
hard copy products, and assists GTMNERR staff and partners in utilizing
GIS.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of Geographic Information Systems; cartography; digital
mapping
techniques, spatial data management; geographic projections, and
components
of geographic coordinate systems.  Skilled at:  use of ESRI software
products
such as:  ArcGIS 9.x, ArcPad 6, ArcInfo Workstation, ArcView 3.x, and
applicable extensions.  Experience with GPS hardware, software, and data
management.  Ability to:  collect, evaluate and analyze geographic data;
report writing; understand and apply applicable department rules,
regulations, policies and procedures; work independently; communicate
effectively verbally and in writing; establish and maintain positive
working
relationships with others. 
 
Special Requirements:
A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is required
in
science, education, or communications and one to two years of related
professional experience (or equivalent work experience).  A master's
degree
may be substituted for the required experience. Expertise in Network
administration, information systems management, database management, and
photogrammetry is highly desirable.  Knowledge of basic ecology and
environmental issues is advantageous.
