Yep, can't remember when I first saw it, but it works the same way for
other geographic areas, i.e. zip codes, counties, even countries...

Try this: search for a city in Google Maps (doesn't show in aerial
view), and the result is the city limits highlighted with a pink tint
band. This result shows at multiple zoom levels. Cool cartography, but
always remember to refer to local authoritative data for accurate info!
