I had similar problem with some imagery from ArcGIS OnLine; marked which ones gave me the problem
and selected another imagery dataset that eventually worked. Hope this helps despite the fact that the
solution is a "work around" solution rather than a "fix".

Subject: shrug-l: ArcGIS 10 Crashes when accessing ArcGIS online maps
SHRUG Professionals,
Last year I loaded ArcGIS 10 and service pack 2 on my laptop.
Here are the some specs of my laptop:
HP G70 Notebook
Pentium(R) Dual Core CPU
4 GB RAM
220 GB Hard Drive
64 bit Operationg System
Windows Vista Home Premium Service Pack 2
When I try to load a map from ArcGISonline ArcMap crashes.
It was suggested that I uninstall and reinstall ArcGIS.
So in December I uninstalled and reinstalled ArcGIS with service pack 3.
Same result, ArcMap crashes when trying to load maps from ArcGISonline.
Most of the other funtionality seems to work
It has been suggested that I may need more RAM for ArcGIS 10.
I would appreciate any suggestions for fixing this situation.
Thanks,
Bill Alfred, MS, GISP
